when you can't work, you become a prolific crafter...

at least in my case!

I fractured my hip back in February. I've been out of work since the end of that month. I'm an EMT so sitting around is only a part of what I do! I'm usually very busy for the other parts. It's driving me crazy as I am not only out of work, but I am NON WEIGHT BEARING.

For the first month, I focused on spinning. As my last post mentioned, I got a supported spindle, or five...and spun enough to ply on my new drop spindle...

I've spun up quite a bit on those spindles!

I made some baby booties and a hat!

and started a new shawl -

I also finished my gnomes - one I started last year and one that I managed to make IN TIME FOR A MKAL START AND FINISH!

That's a completely new one for me.

And then...another completely new to me thing - creating my own design.

I couldn't finish the other shawl because I need a longer needle and can't get one until this week. I was searching for a half circle design. I tried several. Some required new skills or skills I plain just don't like or have time for right now (I want this to be done by May 1) and some just didn't work when I tried to knit them (I followed the pattern meticulously but still ended up off by one stitch in the same place every time!!!) I finally decided to just wing it.

It's coming along nicely I think!

I'm having fun anyway! So that's good!

I go back to the doctor in four days...part of me wants to be back to work but hey, all this knitting getting done is kinda nice too!
